splintwaves III

splintwaves III combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. Crafted from authentic 'Hanzaspreißeln' — the crossbars of historic hay racks in the Tyrolean Arlberg region — this piece pays homage to a centuries-old cultural technique that has nearly been forgotten due to the modernisation of hay harvesting.
 
The carefully selected slats are artfully connected with polyester straps and fastening clips, forming a unique, wave-like structure. When light falls on the structure from the side, its surface takes on a fascinating liveliness, reminiscent of the movement of water – a symbol of the most precious element on our planet.
 
The front has been precisely sanded to preserve the warm, authentic appearance of the material. An integrated hanging system on the back (including wall hooks and dowels) allows for easy mounting on the wall.
